When it comes to testing a pH indicator range, we all use different methods. Whether you are testing your swimming pool, water or own saliva – pH levels are equally important in all walks of life.
The acid or alkaline level of any substance is very important; for example if the pH indicator color shows your swimming pool is too alkaline you need to adjust it; and if your body’s pH levels are too acidic you might be vulnerable to various bacteria infections.
This is why testing using a pH indicator solution is so important; and it should be done on a regular basis if possible.
You can test the pH of any solution by using pH test strips. Using these pH indicators is fairly easy; but there are a few guidelines that you should follow to get an accurate reading.
A pH indicator is a chemical substance that is added in small amounts to a solution, so that the pH of that solution can be determined. These pH indicators are basically a chemical detector for Hydrogen ions and they are usually very accurate. The pH indicator color will change depending on the reading, which will then establish if a solution is acidic or alkaline. Solutions with a pH value of less than 7 are considered to be acidic and solutions with a pH with more than 7 are considered to be alkaline.
In the cases of swimming pools or other water sources, a test kit is used to determine its pH levels. You will fill these cells with the swimming pool water and add various chemicals to each one to get a result. You will measure the color of the solution against a pH indicator range chart; which will then tell you if your pool water is too acidic, or too alkaline. Depending on the result, the chart will also indicate what you will need to add to your swimming pool water to correct the imbalance.
Your body’s pH levels are very important; and a healthy reading would be around 7.2 or slightly greater. Lower than that will mean your pH level is acidic and higher will mean that you are more alkaline. If your pH levels are too acidic you will need to follow an alkaline diet to correct the problem. Foods that you can include in an alkaline diet will be fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds, fresh fruit juices, healthy fats and lots of water. You can also make use of acid pH neutralization supplements to help reduce the body’s acidity.
You can test your pH levels by either using your saliva or urine. Urine is said to be more accurate then saliva testing; but in order to get an accurate reading you should take multiple readings throughout the day to get a good average pH level. Testing your own pH levels is rather easy with the help of pH indicators or indicator strips, and will show you the whether you need to take steps towards alkalizing your body.
